My research has two main thematic areas:
Responsibility, accountability and legitimacy in global economic governance
The politics of transnational business regulation
In both areas, I have made very substantial theoretical contributions, informed by intensive empirical field research of a kind that is unusual in theoretically-driven global governance research. My work in both thematic areas has also had significant practical impacts outside academia, reflecting my career-long commitment to building collaborative, long-term engagement with research end-users.
